Ness Engineering Expansion Project
Alistair Leslie, managing director of Ness Engineering
It was a pleasure to work with Highlands and Islands Enterprise (HIE) to produce a series of photographs featuring Ness Engineering at their Sumburgh base. The images were commissioned to accompany news of the company's ongoing expansion plans, which include a new workshop development designed to support future growth, increase capacity and create new employment opportunities.
As part of the project, Ness Engineering secured up to £172,234 of funding from Highlands and Islands Enterprise to support the capital expansion and the creation of new jobs. The company has also invested in new technology systems to improve productivity and help meet growing demand for its services across Shetland.
During the shoot, I photographed members of the team in their working environment, capturing a range of engineering activities alongside portraits and images of the company's facilities. I always enjoy documenting local businesses and showcasing the skilled people whose work contributes to Shetland's economy and communities.
Ness Engineering currently employs more than 40 people, including apprentices, and the expansion project will provide additional workshop, storage and yard space to support the company's continued development.
Many thanks to the team at Ness Engineering and Highlands and Islands Enterprise for the opportunity to document this exciting stage in the company's growth.
