It's always a pleasure when a photograph finds its way into a story of achievement and recognition.
I was recently commissioned to photograph Dr Beth Mouat for the University of the Highlands and Islands. The portrait has been used to accompany the announcement of her appointment as UHI's new Dean of Research and Innovation. Dr Mouat, who is based in Shetland, brings extensive experience in research leadership and marine science to the role.
For this portrait, the aim was to create a professional but approachable image that reflected both Dr Mouat's leadership position and her connection to the Highlands and Islands. As with many editorial portraits, the challenge is to capture personality and professionalism in a single frame while producing an image that works effectively across both print and digital publications.
As a photographer, there's something particularly rewarding about seeing a portrait used to mark an important milestone in someone's career. Images like these play a small but significant role in telling the stories of the people shaping our communities, organisations, and institutions.
