On-board babies: twins return to Loganair to mark 40 years since their airborne delivery

It was not my average Tuesday afternoon this week, as I had a special shoot down at Sumburgh Airport to celebrate David and Lynsey Henderson’s 40th birthdays – taking ‘airborne’ to a whole new meaning, twins David and Lynsey are in an elite club of babies who were born on Loganair aircrafts.

I recall a previous airside shoot to celebrate the arrival of the Olympic Torch (link), and it was great to be back on the apron to capture the gifting of flight tickets and birthday presents to the Henderson twins.

This was a fairly fast-paced shoot, and it was an interesting experience to see a little more of behind the scenes at the airport. We had to work within aircraft arrival and departure times; the flight from Norway that David and Lynsey were disembarking from had a tight turnaround before heading to Edinburgh.

There was an incoming flight from Norway, as well as transport minister Jenny Gilruth heading through security. Nevertheless, we managed several different shots both within the aircraft and on the tarmac. It was also a pleasure to meet Captain Eddie Watt, having previously heard his voice on many flights!
