Waves and Woollens with Fraser Knitwear

Shoots with Fraser Knitwear are always good fun - Joan, Leah and I have worked together on several shoots now. This time around, the photography centred around a set of three Shetland Knitwear Wool Wraps featuring natural hues and a wave-like pattern. So, where better to take some images than a little spot of Lerwick shoreline?

After the full lockdown earlier in the year and continuing restrictions, this assignment was very welcome indeed - it felt great to get back out to some commercial work and see some friendly faces. Looking back at these photos made me think about how lucky we are to live where we do - the lighting was stunning, with the aqua colours in the sea just asking to be photographed. You never need to travel far in Shetland to find natural landscapes and inspiration.

These photos were taken several months ago and despite the social distancing requirements, we made the most of the fine weather and colourful sea to take a few natural but scenic shots to showcase Joan's latest work. The design was developed after the first lockdown and was inspired by a fisherman's kep held in the Shetland Museum and Archives. It's produced using Jamieson's of Shetland wool - it's so great to see how much craftmanship and business can be made within our isles.

We have also spent some time in my new studio capturing some product shots of Joan's work. After years of photographing in different locations, it's brilliant to now have a dedicated space for portraiture and product photography work - I'll share more on that at a later date.
