One of the most satisfying parts of the commercial photography side of my business is travelling around Shetland witnessing different industries within the islands hands-on.

The team at Mesomorphic outside their headquarters in Lerwick

The greatest contributors to the Shetland economy are traditionally oil, fishing and tourism. However, despite our geographical position, Shetland is involved in highly specialised work in the growing technology and creative sectors.

Let me introduce you to the bright and dynamic Mesomorphic.

Mesomorphic, located at the Gutters' Hut, North Ness Business Park in Lerwick, is a growing software development firm who 'create bespoke software for SMEs and entrepreneurs using modern development philosophies.'

In 2017 I was contacted by Managing Director Maria Bell to take a series of staff headshots to feature on their new website.

Meet the Mesomorphic team

Since then, I've built up a great working relationship and have now undertaken a number of shoots for Mesomorphic to help populate their website.

In the past, a specialised company like Mesomorphic may have been based on the UK mainland. However, due to the advances in technology, particularly broadband on the island, Mesomorphic are able to offer skilled programmers great opportunities here in Shetland.

Mesomorphic's first graduate apprentice Finlay joined the team straight out of school. He is now coming towards the end of his second year at Robert Gordon University.

Mesomorphic not only work with skilled developers, but provide opportunities for local school leavers by supporting the Graduate Apprenticeship Program. Furthermore, Mesomorphic actively engage in the local community by offering work experience to local students and attending the Anderson High School Careers Convention.

If you would like to find out more about Mesomorphic and the services they can provide, head over to https://www.mesomorphic.co.uk/.

They also have a regularly updated blog with really interesting and varied content at https://www.mesomorphic.co.uk/blog/.
