Back in May I was contacted by Paul Robson (Deputy Editor) of Cycling Plus, Britain’s best selling cycling magazine, about taking a series of photographs in partnership with Promote Shetland

The aim of the article would be to give readers a suggested cycling route should they arrive in Shetland off the Northlink Ferries at Holmsgarth.

The original plan was for Paul and his wife Elizabeth to feature in the photographs. However, a few weeks before the shoot, Paul broke his collar bone meaning he was ruled out of cycling.

Paul got in touch with Shetland Wheelers, Britain’s most northerly cycling club in the UK, which resulted in local man Robin Atkinson agreeing to deputise.  Just days after the photo shoot Robin was scheduled to travel with rest of the Shetland contingent to compete in Natwest Island Games XVI – Jersey.

I’ve posted the pages from the article published in October’s edition of Cycling Plus magazine.  Thank you to Paul, Elizabeth and Robin – I really enjoyed our day touring around Shetland!
