Aeronautical Engineering Apprentice for Direct Flight in Shetland

Charlie McDermott, from Lerwick, has begun a four year Modern Apprenticeship in Engineering Maintenance (Aeronautical) at Tingwall Airport. Charlie works for Direct Flight, who operate the S.I.C.’s two inter-island aircraft, and started his apprenticeship in May this year.This is the first time an Aeronautical Engineering apprenticeship has been undertaken in ShetlandThe programme is being delivered by a partnership between Train Shetland and Direct Flight, with Ayrshire College delivering and assessing the SVQs at Level 2 and 3. Charlie previously completed a National Certificate in engineering with NAFC Marine Centre.
