Kareena Marshall, a champion hockey player who plays for Scotland and is a Commonwealth Games hopeful, was in Shetland last week inspiring youngsters to make changes to their diet now to get the best out of sport in the future.  Children involved with football, hockey and swimming came along to hear about nutrition from Irene Riach from sportscotland and to meet Kareena.  They were able to see huge fresh salmon caught in Shetland waters that day and sample some Scottish Sea Farms prepared salmon. Kareena said: “I never used to eat the right things and didn’t like fish but I now love it and I am always trying new things.  The earlier you start to learn about the right food and experiment with cooking for yourself the better.  Eating Scottish salmon is just one way of getting the right type of protein inside you and I will be taking one of the fish home with me for the freezer!  It was great visiting Shetland and meeting some of the youngsters who may become Scotland’s future top athletes.” The Healthy Hearts of the Community roadshow is all about how the right diet can make a huge difference to sporting performance and provide a healthier lifestyle. Scottish Sea Farms has sponsored the roadshow as part of its Heart of the Community initiative and Shetland was the third stop on a schedule that has already visited Orkney and Oban earlier this year.
