Worldwide Photo Walk 2013 - Sign up now
For the fifth year in a row, I am leading the Shetland leg of the Worldwide Photo Walk. I hope you will join me in this global event which involves thousands of fellow photographers around the world.
The photo walk will take place on Saturday 5th October from 2pm-4pm. After last years successful walk in Scalloway, this year the location is St Ninian’s Isle where there should be some excellent photographic opportunities including the beach/tombolo itself, the Isle with its historical site and cliffs, the banks along to Ireland, as well as numerous options throughout the rest of Bigton. Please feel free to share this information with friends and family as it would be great to have a good turnout for this free event.
It is always nice to meet up again at the end of the 2 hour session to discuss photography and share images with the rest of the group. This year, we have the opportunity to congregate at Hayhoull B&B in the centre of Bigton for refreshments following the walk at a price of £3 per head. Everyone is very welcome to join us here for hot drinks and a snack.

Q: When will the walk take place?
A: The walk will take place on Saturday 5th October from 2pm-4pm.
Q: Where does the walk start and end
A: The meeting point will be at the car park at St Ninian’s Isle just before 2pm. We will finish the walk at 4pm at Hayhoull B&B, Bigton where walkers will have the chance to review the images they’ve captured.
Q: How much does it cost?
A: The photography event is FREE and open to all ages, abilities and types of cameras. The main objective of the event is to enjoy taking some photos and maybe learn a few tips and tricks along the way. I shall be on hand to answer any questions you may have. Refreshments after the walk at Hayhoull B&B are optional and charged at £3 per person.
Once again this year there are some really cool t-shirts for walkers where 100% of the profits will go directly to the Springs of Hope Orphanage in Kenya (last year over $10,000 was raised to feed and cloth the children). Q: What do I need to bring?
A: First of all, I’d like to say that any camera or indeed mobile phone is suitable for this walk. You’ll have the opportunity to capture interesting images regardless of the quality or expense of your photographic equipment. All abilities levels are more than welcome to attend. Please also make sure you dress suitably for the changeable Shetland weather. Besides that, please do bring a friend but make sure everyone has signed up for the walk in advance – you need to do this in order to share any images and be in contention for prizes!
Q: What is the Worldwide Photo Walk?
A: The Worldwide Photo Walk is the world’s largest global social photography event in the history of photography itself where photographers of all walks of life and skill levels gather together, usually in downtown areas to socialise, learn new tips from each other, and explore their corner of the world through photography.
In addition to enjoying a day of photography with other like-minded individuals, participants may also be eligible to win prizes from the Worldwide Photo Walk’s sponsors if their photo is chosen as the best photo of the day by walk leader Ben Mullay.
