Pictured above is HMS Mersey (P283), a river class Offshore Patrol Vessel (OPV), which was near the start line as the tall ships left Lerwick before on their race to Stavanger in Norway.
I feel all the elements in the image made for an interesting composition.

Official Tall Ships Races 2011 – Lerwick Merchandise
There is now only seven days to go until the Tall Ships Races 2011 – Lerwick. If it is anything like 1999 we’re in for a fantastic event.
Over the last few months I have been working with the Tall Ships Races team on the official merchandise. One of my projects was to take product shots of all the official merchandise.
The Camera Centre have produced a great range of gift items which include mugs, Keyrings, coasters and fridge magnets.
Intersport have designed and printed a lovely selection of clothing which include t-shirts, sweatshirts and polo shirts.
Shetland Jewellery have created a stunning range of sterling silver and 9 carat gold pieces while Harry’s Department Store have a range of Burns Crystal glassware.

Tall Ships Races 2011 – Archive Collection #5
Pictured above is the Kruzenshtern leaving Lerwick Harbour in 1999. The Kruzenshtern is on the list of ships which will be visiting again for Tall Ships Shetland 2011.

All the images in this collection were taken on 35mm slide film. Technological advances in photography have changed dramatically in the last 12 years making film a thing of the past. Anyone wishing to purchase slide film, however, can do so at The Camera Centre, 72 Commercial Street, Lerwick.
