Professional Wedding Photography Award – Ben Mullay LSWPP
I am very happy to announce that I am now Ben Mullay LSWPP. I received the certificate earlier this week indicating that I was successful in my licentiate panel application of 20 images. I can now add the professional qualification title of LSWPP (Licentiate of the Society of Wedding and Portrait Photographers) to that of BABS (BA Hons Business Studies). This award is the result of months of hard work leading towards the submission of my panel of 20 images.
This is a great personal achievement, especially since the standard of entry is so high these days. Panel submissions have also changed from 10 images to 20 images which make gaining the qualification even harder. The award indicates a photographer’s ability to produce consistent wedding photography of a high standard.
Below are a selection of images from my 20 image submission to the judging panel:

Wedding picks from 2011
I was sorting through my images and decided to post the picture above as it is one of my favourites from wedding season 2011.
Capturing this image at the end of a wedding is very difficult to achieve as you have no idea where exactly on the dance floor the bride and groom will end up after they are hoisted in the air!

Studio 4
Pictured below are a series of images from last week’s photo shoot at Lerwick hairdresser Studio 4.
Studio 4 are working in conjuction with Babbs Clubb of Anesthesiashetland who specialises in make-up for weddings, special occasions, parties and groups. They are forming a joint alliance providing hairdressing/make-up packages to bridal parties.
The shoot lasted from 9am right through until 7.30pm although the time seemed to fly by. Everyone involved did a fantastic job and there was great camaraderie the whole day.
I hope you enjoy the images below. If you would like to find out more information, please contact Babbs Clubb on 07760168830.

Lindsey and Ben married last Saturday at the Town Hall in Lerwick followed by a reception at Hamnavoe Hall. The wedding had a vintage theme which provided lots of photographic opportunities.
Congratulations Lindsey and Ben and their lovely son Fraser who was great fun all day.

Sita and Duncan’s Wedding, 19th August 2011
I was in Unst last Friday to photograph Sita and Duncan’s wedding. It was beautiful coming into Unst on a fine summer day.
Sita and Duncan married at St. Johns Church, Baltasound followed by a reception in the Baltasound Hall.
We were treated to an amazing sunset after the meal was finished so I took advantage of this spectacle and made some extra images with the bride and groom. A lively dance then took place in the hall until early Saturday morning.
Sita and Duncan are now off to Paris on their honeymoon. I hope they have an excellent trip and I wish them all the very best for the future.

Rachel and Lee’s Wedding, 5th August 2011
Pictured below are images from Rachel and Lee’s wedding last Friday.
The marriage was held at the Church of Scotland in Scalloway with the reception at the Lerwick Town Hall.
The fog meant that some of the guests did not arrive in Shetland until the day of the wedding; however, everyone eventually made it to Shetland to celebrate Rachel and Lee’s big day.
Rachel and Lee were a pleasure to deal with the whole day and I wish them all the very best for the future.

Jennifer and Raymond’s Wedding, 30th June 2011
Jennifer and Raymond married last Thursday at the Shetland Museum and Archives on the balcony outside Hay’s Dock. After the service we went to the Jubilee Flower Park on King Harald Street which offered an excellent location for some photographs. The happy couple and the wedding party then returned to the museum in order to cut the cake and enjoy their meal. Here are a few images from Jennifer and Raymond’s big day. I wish them all the very best.

Kelly and Neil’s Wedding, 17th June 2011
Kelly and Neil married last Friday at Sand Gairdins. The weather during the week had not been very promising, but Kelly and Neil were treated to a beautiful summer’s day. I met the groom and his best men in Lerwick before proceeding to Twatt to capture some images of the bride and her bridesmaids. Everyone looked great, particularly Kelly in her stunning dress which was handmade by Sarah Laurenson. It was a lovely and relaxed wedding with Kelly and Neil a pleasure to deal with. I wish them all the best on their honeymoon and for the future.
Good luck guys.

Lerwick Town Hall on Wedding Night
Here is a picture I took at Diane and Dan’s wedding in July last year. The happy couple were treated to a beautiful day of weather which was fortunate since their marriage was at St Ninian’s Isle.
I was bidding farewell at Lerwick Town Hall at about 11pm when I suggested to Diane and Dan that we try one more shot. They had been very accommodating the whole day so it was no surprise that they agreed to my suggestion. Brian Gifford, who had supplied the wedding car, kindly agreed to move the vehicle into position for this image. It turned out to be one of my favourites from the day.

All the best to Diane and Dan for the future and thanks for a memorable day.

Lisa & Stephen’s Hamefarin
We recently covered Lisa Woodside and Stephen Glaister’s Hamefarin by taking them down to their chosen destination of St Ninian’s Isle, Bigton.
This was my second photo shoot at St Ninian’s Isle this summer and again the weather was absolutely glorious. As a result the beach was very busy with people enjoying the fine day. We had a great time photographing Lisa and Stephen despite the midges!
Lisa is originally from Bangor in Northern Ireland but moved to Shetland a few years ago. Lisa is now working for the Shetland Islands Council at Hayfield House.
Stephen is employed by T & N Joinery and used to stay in Mossbank.
The Hamefarin was held afterwards at the Sandwick Social Club where there was a meal for 40 close family and friends. Music was supplied by 6-piece folk-rock band Scaldin’ Bragg which added an Irish element to the evening. Everyone had a great time and danced the night away.
Lisa and Stephen now live in Sandwick. I would like to thank them for letting us cover their Hamefarin and wish them all the best for their future together.
