Princes Street Gardens
(click on image for larger view)
Pictured above is an image I made when on a recent break in Edinburgh. I spotted these two people relaxing on a park bench in Princes Street Gardens. I was thinking about how to frame the image when the heavens opened and out came the ladies umbrella. Just as I was about to click the shutter, a friendly seagull landed at a spot where I couldn’t have placed him/her better myself!
I have given the photograph an antique styled look to go with the urban theme I envisaged during capture.

Out & About # 7 – Sound, Lerwick

Pictured above is a photograph of some metal sheets I photographed near the banks of Sound, Lerwick. I was driving home around 6pm and noticed the nice evening light. I was particularly drawn to the sheets because of their rich colours and textures. After searching around for different angles, I opted for this composition. I really like the curvature of the metal with its strong, rich colour complimented with a deep blue sky with puffy clouds in the background.
I’ve been experimenting lately with a Nikon D300 DSLR but took these photographs with my trusty old Canon EOS 20D. The wide-angle 17-40mm L lens really did the trick on this occasion.
