Northern Lights over Clavel

After a dramatic sunset image up in Sandness link, I headed down to my home village of Bigton to capture this photo of the Northern Lights (Aurora) later the same evening.  I’ve always hoped to capture a Northern Lights photograph from this atmospheric location.  I remember well when Clavel was inhabited during my childhood in Bigton and have had countless yarns over the years with James Robert Sinclair – “Da Clavel Boy” – about his latest weather predictions.

Viewers of BBC TV Drama Shetland may recognise the location as it was used for filming in the latest series.  

Shetland is a BBC Scotland crime drama television series starring Douglas Henshall as Detective Inspector Jimmy Perez, originally based on the novels by Ann Cleeves.
