Jenna Reid 'Live in Shetland' Album Launch

I was delighted when Jenna asked me to be involved with the photography for her new album.  Pictured above is one from a selection of images I took of Jenna during the photo shoot for the album. Here is a detailed account of the new album, 'LIVE in Shetland', taken from Jenna's website (link).

Since releasing her debut solo album, ‘With Silver & All’ and subsequent albums, ‘Laughing Girl’ and ‘Morning Moon’, and being awarded ‘Best Up and Coming Artist’ and nominated as Best Instrumentalist at the Scots Trad Music Awards, Jenna Reid has undoubtedly remained one of the brightest talents ever to grace the traditional music scene.

LIVE in SHETLAND is her fourth album and captures Jenna in full flight with her long standing accompanists Kevin Mackenzie, Harris Playfair and sister, Bethany Reid performing in Shetland’s stunning new venue, Mareel.

A protégé of the greatest names in Shetland fiddling, Jenna has appeared all over the world with the award winning band Blazin’ Fiddles and chamber folk quartet, RANT. Jenna has graced television screens, performing alongside Aly Bain, Martha Wainwirght and Jerry Douglas on the Transatlantic Sessions and produced her first collection of self penned tunes, ‘The Quarff Collection’.

Alongside her sister Bethany, Jenna is curator for the 2013, 2014 and 2015 Fiddle Frenzy Festival in Shetland.

Jenna will launch ‘LIVE in Shetland’ on the 23rd January at Glasgow’s Mitchell Theatre as part of the 2015 Celtic Connections Festival.

LIVE in SHETLAND was recorded live in Shetland’s Mareel by Jonathan Ritch and Iain Waddell.

Below are a selection of videos by 60NorthTV from the album recorded and performed live in Mareel, Shetland.
